Here's M's socks... the ends are finally sewn in- they're in the mail M!

I think it's time to unsubscribe from the Berreco newsletter.... this arrived in my mailbox today, and the only thing that comes to my mind is "It's burning my retinas!"

presenting... the finished baby hat! It's very soft, because the white is chenille... and I think it's going to be a big hit
anyway- here are the project specs
yarn- white was an unknown chenille from my mom; red was leftovers from a sweater
pattern- modified from a child's hat pattern from a magazine
time- It sat as an UFO for a while, but once I started working on it again, maybe 2 weeks?

I feel much better now

In between classes today, I knit for about an hour and a half. I finished the hat... it looks very cute. I'll post a picture after it's washed and blocked.

:)

I miss knitting

this is sad. Yesterday I knit 3 rows. And that's all I knit all week. Pathetic. At this rate, my older sister will be getting her shrug in about 5 years. Give or take.

I've just been so busy- I have tons of reading and and getting a little burnt out. So tonight I'm going to take at least a 1/2 hour and work on the little baby hat I've been working on a while.

:) I'm sure I'll feel better, and maybe the black shrug won't be glaring at me from it's place on the couch. It hates me. really.

Sleeping Beauty Awakes!

I went to the Russian National Ballet's production of Sleeping Beauty tonight at the Morris, it was nice. I have no ability to judge the ballerinas' skills, but one of the issues I've always had with ballet is how difficult it is to become involved with the story. But that's kind of my issue, isn't it? But anyway- here's a review from someone who knows... http://www.canberrareview.com.au/ed427.htm I totally agree with her about the distorted music- I was disappointed with the quality, and wished there was an orchestra

anyway... one funny moment was seeing a few ballerinas with forbidden spindles, and they began knitting with them. heh. I was amused, and even more so when I realized I might be one of only a very, very, very few in the building who actually knows how to use a spindle.

The first week of law school has hit like a ton of bricks.

my classes
Jurisprudence (the 8:30 am one)
family law
juvenile law
Restorative justice
Legal Aid clinic

see that last one? The clinic is time consuming. So I've decided not to try out for Mock Trial. I'll miss it, but I need the extra hours, because I really haven't been knitting enough.
:)
actually, last night I worked a bit on my older sister's shrug. It's coming along, but slowly.

In other knitting news, I have 2 socks that need to be finished and sent off to the marvelous M (who needs to email me her address)

I also need to finish some flowers for my mom's Xmas purse, and a baby hat that some guild members saw on Sunday.

Sorry for all those people going to Sufficient Grounds tonight, but a friend of mine is leaving town, and tonight is her going-away dinner.

This is what I was doing for the last 2 weeks instead of knitting... and I had fun!

Sorry for the contiuning hiatus... I'm in Breckenridge now, snowboarding- learning the terrain park, and starting to board in the trees*. The powder is just amazing, and it's wonderful that I'm finally getting good enough to appreciate it again.

* I bought a helmet

Also, I visited a yarn/quilting store on Main Street, and it was nice- a smaller selection than our South Bend LYS's, but I'm sure rent here is much more expensive. The great thing is that the owner has a limited selection of standard yarns, and a ton of hand-dyed wool and mohair, in just beautiful colors. Sadly, there is no laceweight.

In knitting news, I'm almost done with M's Christmas present, and I have the Flowerbasket pattern. Yeehaw, lace, here I come!
