mmm- new knitting!

I just saw the new Knitty... and I must have this!
Notice the fact that it's lace. I am enamored.

Even though I am in row 110 of the Moon Dance stole (I was stalled because of work at school) I can see myself knitting Serrano, and wearing it all the time- isn't it funny how patterns make you imagine them? But I'd have to find a substitute yarn... mohair gives me the itchies. And the yarn called for- Schaefer Yarns Anne- is 25% mohair.

So basically I'm on the lookout for a superwash merino (blends are ok) with a gauge of 28 stitches and 36 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch, unblocked and
21 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch, blocked.

:)

Comments:
Kristine, Anne is a sock weight yarn- I love that pattern too. I think you calculated your gauge wrong. It is nice because there are lots of good subs but bad because it takes a long time to knit a sweater in fingering:-(

That's so strange- because I copied and pasted the gauge. I wonder if the author was just "off." Thanks for the heads up!

Isn't that sweater pretty? I saw it in person at our Stitch n bitch. Darned nice.

Okay I just checked to make sure I didn't have a brain drain. It is fingering(sock weight). I would guess the gauge might be right because it is a lace pattern and probably on larger needles that you would normally knit for socks.
I guess the lesson is don't look at the guage to decide the yarn you want to sub, look at the yardage per 50 grms or whatever. The yardage should match closely. Even then if you sub a totally different fiber say silk for wool it might still come out wonky:-)
